**10 Arrested in Overnight Police Operations Across Cyprus**
In a coordinated effort to combat organized crime and enhance public safety, police across Cyprus conducted extensive operations on Saturday night, resulting in the arrest of ten individuals. The operations targeted various offenses, including illegal possession of narcotics, illegal residency, and begging.
The police presence was notably strong, with a total of 728 drivers and 305 passengers subjected to checks during the operations. Additionally, 64 office premises were inspected, leading to nine charges against individuals or businesses.
Among the drivers checked, law enforcement issued 227 charges, with 13 cases earmarked for further investigation. Speeding violations were particularly prevalent, with 105 charges recorded in this category alone. The police also confiscated 15 vehicles during the operations.
Alcotests were performed on 314 individuals, resulting in 19 charges for driving under the influence, while two individuals were found guilty of drug driving. These measures are part of a broader strategy by the police to enhance the sense of public safety and deter criminal activities.
Authorities have indicated that such operations will continue in the future as part of ongoing efforts to maintain law and order across the island.
