**146 Animals Dead After Farm Fire in Koutsoventis**
A devastating fire at a farm near the village of Koutsoventis, located in the Kyrenia district, has resulted in the loss of 146 animals, according to the Turkish Cypriot police. The incident occurred on Wednesday at approximately 3:45 PM, leading to significant destruction of both livestock and farming equipment.
The fire originated in a barn where it consumed various farming machinery, including a milking machine, a generator, and a welding machine. In addition to these items, the blaze destroyed 100 square hay bales, 13 rolled hay bales, animal feed, 10 solar panels, and a motorcycle. Among the animals lost were 32 small livestock, which included sheep, rams, lambs, and kids.
The fire's impact extended beyond the initial farm, as it spread to an adjacent property. At this second farm, the flames destroyed 400 square hay bales, five rolled hay bales, and four bags of barley. The fire also damaged the roof of an outhouse, nine fruit trees, and a plastic water tank. Tragically, this farm reported the deaths of an additional 30 small livestock animals, which included goats, sheep, and lambs, as well as 50 chickens, four turkeys, and 30 chicks.
In the wake of the fire, two individuals were hospitalized due to smoke inhalation, highlighting the incident's severity. Firefighters responded promptly to the scene and were able to bring the fire under control, preventing further damage.
The Turkish Cypriot police have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire. Details regarding the circumstances leading up to the incident remain unclear, and authorities are working to gather information that could shed light on how the fire started.
