**18-Year-Old Arrested for Severe Assault on Fiancée in Lefka**
Lefka, Cyprus – An 18-year-old man was brought before the court on Tuesday, facing serious charges of assaulting his 48-year-old fiancée. The incident, which has raised concerns about domestic violence, occurred early Saturday morning at their residence in the village of Elia, located near Lefka.
According to a police officer's testimony during the court proceedings, the altercation began around 6:30 AM, stemming from a verbal dispute regarding the woman’s intentions to take a child with her. During the argument, the defendant allegedly struck his fiancée on the head with his hands.
The situation escalated when the woman attempted to escape the confrontation by locking herself in the bathroom. Fearing that the 18-year-old would force his way in, she made a desperate decision to jump from the bathroom window, falling approximately four meters to the ground below.
The fall resulted in severe injuries for the woman, including a fractured spine and a brain hemorrhage. She is currently receiving medical treatment at Dr. Burhan Nalbantoglu Hospital in northern Nicosia.
Following the police officer's account, Judge Ergin Atici ordered the remand of the accused for three days, allowing time for further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
