2 Killed in Ukrainian Attack on Belgorod, Authorities Say

Aug. 30, 2026 A fire in Belgorod following Ukrainian strikes on Aug. 30, 2026. @exilenova_plus / Telegram A Ukrainian missile attack on the city of Belgorod in western Russia killed two people and injured 16 others, acting regional Governor Alexander Shuvaev said Wednesday. Shuvaev said a man and a 16-year-old were killed in a strike on a “commercial facility” in the city. He said seven warehouses were also set ablaze during the attack but did not specify where. The online retailer Ozon said that its warehouse in the city was hit. The company said it evacuated employees from the facility, but added that there were casualties and suspended operations as a result. Ozon did not say whether any of its employees were killed. Videos shared on social media showed multiple fires burning across the city, including one reportedly near a television tower. One of the strikes reportedly hit the Belgorod thermal power plant, where a fire broke out, the local news outlet Pepel reported. Ukraine began attacking Ozon warehouses last week after more than a month of strikes against facilities owned by its biggest competitor, Wildberries. Officials in Kyiv have accused Wildberries of supplying the Russian military with drone parts and other equipment. The Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine, has faced frequent Ukrainian drone and missile attacks since the 2022 invasion.
