The court will sit on October 15, and he will remain in custody until then. Police have confirmed the victim’s condition has stabilised and he is no longer in danger, after he was earlier treated in a critical condition. The accused faces serious charges of attempted murder, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, and wounding. The two men, both Sri Lankan nationals, lived in the same house in Aradippou. On the night of Sunday, July 19, they had gone out with a third person to Livadia, Larnaca, where they drank alcohol. According to testimony obtained by investigators at Aradippou Police Station, they returned home around 30 minutes after midnight and began arguing outside the house. The fight continued inside, and the 22-year-old grabbed two knives from the kitchen and stabbed the 33-year-old in several parts of his body, police said, reportedly striking him twice in the chest, three times in the left arm, once in the abdomen and once in the right palm. The injured man was taken by ambulance to the accident and emergency department at Larnaca General Hospital, and was later transferred to Nicosia General Hospital due to the severity of his condition. The 22-year-old had fled the scene and was arrested two hours later by Larnaca Police. Under questioning, he said he and the victim were friends and that the victim was the one who had injured him.
