**Title: Motorcyclist Dies in Collision on Nicosia to Limassol Motorway While Avoiding Stray Dog**
A tragic incident occurred on the Nicosia to Limassol motorway on Sunday morning, resulting in the death of a 61-year-old motorcyclist, identified as Christos Sialilos from Yeri. The fatal accident took place around 8:30 AM near Skarinou, where Sialilos lost control of his motorcycle while attempting to avoid a stray dog on the roadway.
According to police reports, Sialilos was part of a group of approximately ten motorcyclists traveling together when the incident unfolded. A dog reportedly entered the motorway after being struck by another vehicle, prompting Sialilos to take evasive action. Unfortunately, his attempt to avoid the animal led to him losing control of his motorcycle, causing him to be thrown onto the road.
A second motorcyclist, who was riding behind Sialilos, was unable to react in time and collided with him. The impact of the collision was severe, and Sialilos was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident led to the temporary closure of a section of the motorway as emergency services and traffic investigators conducted examinations to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the collision. Authorities are currently investigating the incident further.
This tragic event marks the second fatal road collision involving a motorcyclist within a 24-hour period. Earlier on the same day, a separate incident in Strovolos claimed the life of a 23-year-old motorcyclist, highlighting ongoing concerns regarding road safety for motorcyclists in Cyprus.
As investigations continue, local authorities are urging all road users to exercise caution and remain vigilant, particularly in areas where animals may stray onto roadways. The loss of life in these incidents serves as a somber reminder of the dangers present on the roads and the need for increased awareness among drivers and motorcyclists alike.
