**Title: Afghanistan Accuses Pakistan of Air Raids Resulting in 13 Deaths, Including Children**
**Date: June 10, 2026**
Afghanistan has reported that airstrikes conducted by Pakistan's military resulted in the deaths of at least 13 individuals, predominantly children, across the provinces of Kunar, Khost, and Paktika. The attacks, which occurred late on Tuesday, have been described as the deadliest in recent weeks and have raised concerns about the stability of the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, which had experienced a period of relative calm prior to these incidents.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the chief spokesman for Afghanistan’s Taliban government, condemned the airstrikes, labeling them a "humanitarian crime and act of aggression." In a statement posted on social media platform X, Mujahid detailed that among the deceased were 11 children, one woman, and an elderly man. Additionally, he reported that 14 other women and children sustained injuries during the attacks.
Details regarding the specific locations of the strikes indicate that a house in the Spera district of Khost province was targeted, resulting in the deaths of nine individuals and injuries to ten others. In Paktika province, local residents reported that another airstrike in the Barmal district killed three civilians, all of whom were children, when their home was struck.
The air raids followed a violent incident a day earlier, where suspected fighters from the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) attacked a security post in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, which borders Afghanistan. This attack led to a fierce gun battle, claiming the lives of six members of the Federal Constabulary, a paramilitary force in Pakistan, and injuring several others.
Historically, relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan have been tense, particularly since the Taliban's return to power in Afghanistan in 2021. The situation escalated significantly in late February when Afghanistan conducted a cross-border attack in retaliation for previous Pakistani airstrikes. Pakistan has accused Afghanistan of providing sanctuary to TTP fighters who carry out attacks within its borders, while Afghan officials counter that Pakistan harbors groups that threaten Afghanistan's sovereignty.
The United Nations reported in May that cross-border clashes had resulted in the deaths of at least 372 Afghan civilians and injuries to another 397 in the first quarter of 2026. A fragile ceasefire agreement established in March has since collapsed, with both nations blaming each other for violations.
As of now, there has been no official response from the Pakistani government regarding the recent airstrikes. The ongoing conflict and accusations between the two nations continue to pose significant challenges to regional stability and the safety of civilians in border areas.
