**AI Development Will Not Be Halted Over ‘Robot Takeover Hoax’ – Trump**
In a recent statement, U.S. President Donald Trump dismissed concerns regarding artificial intelligence (AI) potentially taking over the world as a "hoax" propagated by what he termed "radical Democrats." His comments came in response to a renewed debate over AI safety, sparked by an essay from Dario Amodei, CEO of the AI research company Anthropic, which advocated for a pause in AI model development to better assess associated risks.
Amodei's call for caution received support from prominent figures in the AI industry, including Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, known for developing the AI chatbot ChatGPT, and Elon Musk, whose company SpaceXAI created the Grok chatbot. In a series of posts on Truth Social, Trump expressed his firm stance against these warnings, suggesting that they are politically motivated. He characterized the fears surrounding AI as part of a broader narrative pushed by his political opponents, stating, "Radical Left Dumocrats, who never give up, but seldom win," are responsible for spreading these concerns.
Trump emphasized the importance of AI and data centers in the context of economic development, labeling them as the "Greatest Economic Development Engine in History." He vowed that under his administration, the progress in AI would not be impeded by what he referred to as "brilliantly run Destructive Forces."
“I am the Hoax Buster, and I’m right now breaking another Hoax – That AI is going to take over, consume, and destroy the World, and that Robots will be marching into our Cities, and getting rid of us all!” Trump asserted in his posts. He drew parallels between the current anxiety over AI and previous allegations regarding Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, as well as the efforts to impeach him during his first term.
In another post, Trump remarked, “The people that say AI is going to destroy the World, and that Data Centers are bad for your neighborhood, are the same people that said, just a short time ago, that the World would be extinguished by ‘Climate Change.’ That HOAX never worked out for them, and now they’re on to the next one.”
