Argentina's President Javier Milei has publicly criticized the United Nations for what he perceives as a lack of action regarding escalating tensions with the United Kingdom over oil exploration in the Falkland Islands. During his address at the UN General Assembly on Wednesday, Milei reiterated Argentina's longstanding claim to the islands, asserting that the islanders do not possess the right to self-determination. Milei's remarks come in the wake of Argentina initiating sanctions proceedings against over 60 companies and individuals associated with an offshore oil drilling project near the Falklands.
