**Arikli Dismissed as North's Transport Minister Following Ferry Disaster**
Erhan Arikli has been dismissed from his position as the ‘transport minister’ of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, as announced by ‘prime minister’ Unal Ustel on Wednesday evening. This decision comes in the wake of a tragic accident involving a passenger ferry that sank off the coast of Kyrenia, resulting in the loss of at least nine lives and leaving 20 individuals unaccounted for.
In a statement regarding the dismissal, Ustel emphasized the need for an unimpeded investigation by police and judicial authorities. "In order to ensure that our police and judicial authorities can conduct the investigation without leaving any room for doubt, I have decided to expand the scope of the suspensions of duties which we implemented following the accident," Ustel said. He confirmed that Arikli had been informed of his removal from office.

He assured the public that all findings would be meticulously evaluated, stating, "We will not allow any detail to be overlooked or any negligence to be covered up. If there is any negligence, fault, or liability – regardless of the source – it will be brought to light."
