The first ever Russian-Chinese rock festival held on Chinese soil opened at the Beijing Exhibition Center on Saturday, a TASS correspondent reported. The two-day event will bring together classic, alternative and folk rock musicians. "Contacts in the field of culture have been a key dimension in relations between Russia and China, for cultural exchanges are underpinned with live communication between people and the two nation’s sincere interest in each other which serve as a solid foundation for achievements in other spheres of bilateral cooperation," Lenar Salimullin, Minister-Counsellor of the Russian Embassy in China, said, addressing the opening ceremony for the festival. The event, being held with support from the Russian Embassy in China, was organized by the Russian Cultural Center in Beijing, Moscow Music Group (MMG), Game Art Pioneers and Beijing International Exhibition Center Co. Ltd. Russia’s rock bands Slot, 7 000$, MultFilmy, Fiend, Gauga, Goroda and Zhega will perform at the festival, while the Chinese side will be represented by Yang Pinhua and The Axis, as well as Erguna Band and Deep Mountains. The event is aimed at encouraging cultural and humanitarian exchanges between the two countries, including tour activities.
