**Belarusian Children Injured in Ukrainian Drone Strike on Bus**
A tragic incident occurred when a Ukrainian drone attack targeted a bus carrying a children’s soccer team from Belarus to a seaside resort in Russia. The attack, confirmed by Egor Kovalchuk, the acting governor of Bryansk Region, resulted in the death of an adult woman and injuries to six others, including four children.
The bus, which was en route to Gelendzhik in the Krasnodar Region, was transporting 44 passengers, among them 28 young athletes from a sports school in Rechytsa, Belarus. The Russian Investigative Committee has classified the incident as a terrorist attack, underscoring the severity of the situation.
According to Deputy Health Minister Aleksey Kuznetsov, one child has been taken to the hospital in serious condition, while the injuries of the other victims are considered moderate. The attack has raised significant concerns regarding the safety of civilians and children in the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
Images released by Belarusian media show the damaged bus, which appears to have sustained shrapnel wounds and a deflated front-right tire, indicating the violence of the strike. This incident is part of a broader pattern of escalating drone attacks by Ukraine, which has intensified its long-range campaign against Russian targets in recent months.
Ukrainian officials have described these drone strikes as “long-range sanctions,” aimed at causing economic disruption and targeting military infrastructure. However, Moscow has accused Ukraine of deliberately striking civilian targets, claiming that such actions are intended to instill fear among the population.
This drone strike is not an isolated incident. In May, a similar attack on a dormitory at a vocational college in Starobelsk, located in the Lugansk People’s Republic, resulted in the deaths of 21 individuals, many of whom were teenage students. Reports from Russian regions bordering Ukraine frequently detail attacks on emergency service vehicles and community service personnel, highlighting the ongoing risks faced by civilians in the conflict zone.
On the same day as the bus strike, Kovalchuk reported another drone attack in Bryansk Region, which targeted an ambulance responding to an emergency. The attack resulted in injuries to the driver, a nurse, and a paramedic. Additionally, a civilian car was hit by a drone, injuring both the driver and a female passenger.
As the conflict continues, the international community remains concerned about the impact of such attacks on civilian life and the safety of children. The situation underscores the urgent need for dialogue and de-escalation to prevent further tragedies in the region.
