Janice died in their Tremithousa home in the Paphos district, in December 2021 and David was found guilty of manslaughter two years later. His daughter, 53 year old Lesley Cawthorne confirmed to the Daily Mail that the man had died at a Cyprus hospital last Wednesday, following a urinary infection. The defence had claimed in court that the woman’s death came after she repeatedly called on her husband to kill her, as the blood cancer suffering had progressively become unbearable. David Hunter was released from prison in the summer of 2023, after serving part of his sentence, as his health deteriorated. Hunter, a former miner from Northumberland, stayed in Cyprus following his release, in order to be near his wife’s grave. The couple had been married for 52 years and had moved to the island in 2002.
