The race took place on Sunday, marking a significant comeback for Fernandez, who had faced challenges just a day prior.
Fernandez, who started the race in second position, quickly overtook pole-sitter Jorge Martin as they approached turn one. This decisive move set the tone for the race, allowing Fernandez to build a substantial lead. By the time he crossed the finish line, he had extended his advantage to 2.54 seconds over Martin, clinching his second MotoGP win and his first since the Australian Grand Prix last year.
“I am really happy for the team. Yesterday (Saturday) I was quite frustrated after my mistake. But we are human and it is part of the sport,” Fernandez commented after his victory, reflecting on the crash he experienced during Saturday's sprint race.
Jorge Martin, the current championship leader, faced an unexpected setback at the start of the race when his ride-height device malfunctioned, preventing it from disengaging at turn one. This issue forced him to drop behind both Marc Marquez and fellow Aprilia rider Marco Bezzecchi. Despite this early challenge, Martin managed to regain his position, overtaking Bezzecchi on lap nine to secure second place. However, he was unable to close the gap to Fernandez, finishing the race in a solid yet distant second.
Martin's runner-up finish allows him to maintain a 31-point lead in the championship standings.
