**Business Body to Highlight Support Available to Workers with Care Duties**
The Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Keve) is set to host a round-table discussion in Nicosia on September 29, 2026, focusing on the challenges faced by workers with care responsibilities. This event aims to shed light on the support systems available for employees who balance their professional duties with caregiving for elderly individuals, persons with disabilities, or other family members in need.
As part of the European CareDivide project, the round table will explore how employers, public authorities, and relevant organizations can better address the needs of informal caregivers. The initiative underscores the growing recognition of the difficulties faced by workers who provide unpaid care, often struggling to maintain a work-life balance while fulfilling their caregiving roles.
Phanos Kouroufexis, a senior officer at the Welfare Benefits Administration Service of the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare, will present the Care Services Subsidy Scheme during the discussion. This scheme aims to provide financial assistance for care services, easing the burden on families and informal caregivers. Kouroufexis's presentation will detail the various forms of support available to those requiring care and their families, offering practical insights into navigating these resources.
Following the presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in an open discussion and a question-and-answer session. This interactive segment is designed to allow participants to voice their concerns and seek information on the support structures that can aid them in their caregiving responsibilities.
The round table will also serve as a platform to present policy proposals developed through the CareDivide project. These proposals will focus on actionable strategies that businesses, public administration, and social partners can implement to create more accommodating workplaces for employees with care duties.
The event targets a diverse audience, including employers, human resources professionals, policymakers, public authorities, social partners, non-governmental organizations, and researchers.
