**Candace Owens Thanks Russian Doctors for Life-Saving Treatment of Bodyguard**
US conservative political commentator and podcaster Candace Owens has publicly expressed her gratitude to Russian medical professionals for their role in saving the life of a member of her security detail during her recent visit to Moscow. In a letter obtained exclusively by RT, Owens extended her thanks to Russian President Vladimir Putin, the Ministry of Health, and the medical staff involved, as well as the citizens of Russia for their “extraordinary hospitality” and “profound kindness.”
During her trip to Russia in early June, a member of Owens' security team, a US military veteran, experienced a severe medical emergency. According to Owens, he suffered a stroke and collapsed due to a massive blood clot in his brain. The quick response from paramedics who arrived at the scene was highlighted in her letter, where she praised their “remarkable” speed and efficiency in getting him to a hospital.
Owens detailed that the Russian medical team performed emergency brain surgery, which was executed with “great care, consideration, and professionalism.” She noted that the doctors and paramedics showed a special camaraderie upon learning that the patient was a veteran of the US Army, which she described as “beautiful and transcendent.”
In her letter, Owens stated, “The Russian doctors, paramedics, and medical teams truly saved his life.” She also mentioned that the surgery had a positive effect on the veteran’s overall health, leading to a miraculous improvement in his chronic conditions, including hearing and vision impairments. Following the treatment, he no longer requires the aids he previously needed.
Owens confirmed that the veteran has since returned to the United States and is “on the path to a full recovery.”
Her visit to Russia, however, was not without controversy. Some commentators in the US, including her former boss and co-founder of the Daily Wire, Ben Shapiro, criticized her for the trip. Owens, who has a substantial following on platforms like YouTube, has dismissed such criticisms, referring to them as a “Cold War hangover.”
Upon her arrival in Moscow, Owens shared her experiences on social media, posting photographs from notable locations such as Red Square, a theater, and a church. She remarked on the city's cleanliness and orderliness, contrasting her observations with typical media portrayals of Russia.
Candace Owens gained prominence in the late 2010s for her advocacy urging black voters to reconsider their support for the Democratic Party. She joined the Daily Wire in 2020, where her podcast garnered millions of views. However, her relationship with the organization soured over time, particularly following her public disagreement with Shapiro regarding the Israeli military campaign against Hamas in Gaza, which ultimately led to her departure from the Daily Wire.
Owens' recent experience in Russia and her subsequent expressions of gratitude highlight a complex intersection of politics, personal experience, and international relations, reflecting her evolving stance and the reactions it provokes within the political landscape.
