The extensive case file includes their recommendations, which, according to reports, are based on the findings, expert assessments and the full body of testimonial material gathered. Limassol CID investigators received the last clarifications from government department officials to complete their investigation into the causes of the collapse and the two deaths. According to information obtained by Phileleftheros, Limassol CID’s recommendations are specific, following the investigators’ evaluation of the reports and findings before them. The reports concern both the building’s structural stability and the interventions carried out on it, as well as possible omissions being examined as part of the investigation. The material evaluated includes the report of a private expert appointed by police, as well as the findings of an expert appointed by the Limassol District Organisation of Local Government (DLGO). The Limassol CID investigative team, set up specifically to investigate the circumstances of the tragedy, had received instructions from the Law Office around mid-April to take new statements from owners of flats in the building, as well as from Limassol District Organisation of Local Government officials. The new statements were investigative in nature, as the individuals concerned were now being treated as suspects for possible criminal offences. The collapse of the building, on 11 April, killed 27-year-old Dex Stanley, a permanent resident of the building. It also killed 27-year-old Leonela Aleman Morales, who had arrived in Cyprus a few days earlier and was staying in a flat she had rented through a short-term rental platform. As Phileleftheros had previously reported, the reports, findings, geological tests and sample analyses, taken from various points in the building and examined by university professors, were aimed at establishing the exact causes of the collapse. The investigation also examined whether the tragedy was due to omissions by the relevant authorities or to external factors such as alterations, interventions or other construction failures.
