**Title: CFOs Express Increased Optimism for AI Impact on Business Outcomes**

A recent survey conducted by accountancy firm Deloitte has revealed a significant shift in the outlook of chief financial officers (CFOs) at some of Britain’s largest companies regarding the impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on their businesses. The report, published this week, indicates that 73% of CFOs now express optimism about AI's potential to enhance business performance, a notable increase from 59% at the end of last year and a dramatic rise from just 39% two years prior.

The survey, which gathered insights from 58 CFOs between July 1 and July 13, also highlighted a decrease in concerns related to geopolitical risks. The average rating of geopolitical concerns on a scale of 0-100 has fallen to 68, down from 79 at the beginning of 2026. This decline suggests a growing confidence among financial leaders regarding the stability of the global market, despite ongoing tensions, particularly related to conflicts such as the one in Iran.

In addition to AI optimism, the survey results indicated that worries about productivity and competitiveness within the UK economy remained relatively stable, with an average concern rating of 63. However, concerns regarding higher energy prices and potential disruptions to energy services saw a notable decrease, dropping to 60 from 70 in the first quarter of 2026.

Debapratim De, Deloitte UK Chief Economist, commented on the findings, noting that the global economy has managed to withstand shocks from geopolitical conflicts better than anticipated. Despite this resilience, he emphasized that concerns surrounding geopolitics and domestic competitiveness continue to be significant for CFOs. He stated, "CFOs continue to prioritize cost reduction and cash control in this environment," reflecting a cautious approach amidst shifting economic dynamics.

The increasing optimism towards AI is particularly noteworthy, as it reflects a broader trend in the business community towards embracing technological advancements. As companies navigate the complexities of the modern economy, many CFOs are recognizing the potential of AI to drive efficiency, enhance decision-making processes, and ultimately improve financial outcomes.

This shift in perspective may also be influenced by the growing integration of AI technologies across various sectors, which has demonstrated tangible benefits in terms of productivity and operational efficiency. As organizations increasingly adopt AI solutions, the positive impact on business performance is likely to become more pronounced, further bolstering CFOs' optimism.

In conclusion, the Deloitte survey underscores a significant transformation in the attitudes of CFOs in the UK, with a marked increase in optimism regarding AI's role in enhancing business performance and a slight easing of geopolitical concerns. As the financial landscape continues to evolve, the focus on AI and cost management will likely remain central to the strategies of these financial leaders.
