**Charity Cyclist, 82, Passes Away After Completing 3,300-Mile Ride Across Australia**
**Sydney, Australia** – Bob Montgomery, an 82-year-old cyclist, has died unexpectedly just one day after completing an incredible 3,300-mile (5,300 km) charity ride across Australia. Montgomery's family announced his peaceful passing in a statement shared on social media, revealing that he had just finished his journey, dubbed "One Last Ride," from Broome in Western Australia to Bowral, located south-west of Sydney.
Montgomery undertook this monumental challenge alongside his 18-year-old grandson, Tom Malcolm, and together they successfully raised approximately A$105,000 (around $74,000 or £55,000) for a charity focused on motor neurone disease (MND). This ride marked Montgomery's sixth fundraising effort in support of MND NSW, a cause that held significant personal meaning for him, as he had lost a cousin to the disease.
In a statement, Montgomery's family noted that his wife of 59 years, Jenny, was by his side during his final moments. They emphasized that he had been actively sharing his message about the importance of fundraising for MND just hours before his passing.
