**Child Killed in Ukrainian Drone Attack on Playground in Belgorod Region**
A tragic incident occurred on Sunday in the village of Printsevka, located in Russia's Belgorod Region, where a Ukrainian drone strike resulted in the death of a 13-year-old girl and injuries to two other children. Local officials confirmed the details of the attack, which has drawn significant attention due to its impact on civilians.
Municipal head Aleksandr Shuvaev reported that the drone strike targeted an area near a playground, leading to critical injuries for the teenage victim. Emergency medical personnel attempted to provide immediate assistance, but unfortunately, the girl succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Shuvaev stated, “Medics who arrived at the scene took every possible measure to save her, but the injuries proved incompatible with life.”
In addition to the fatality, two younger girls aged seven and nine were hospitalized with shrapnel wounds. The seven-year-old sustained multiple injuries affecting her head, back, and legs, while the nine-year-old was also injured by flying debris. Regional Health Minister Andrey Ikonnikov later reported that both children were in a moderately serious condition and were receiving ongoing medical treatment.
This drone strike was part of a broader series of attacks attributed to Ukraine over the weekend, which resulted in the deaths of four civilians and injuries to at least 32 others in the Belgorod Region. In total, 134 individuals have been reported injured in these attacks, with 12 of them being children. Among the adult patients, 12 remain in intensive care.
Russian officials have expressed grave concerns over the impact of these attacks on children. Rodion Miroshnik, Russia's Ambassador-at-Large, noted that since the beginning of the year, more than 35 children have lost their lives due to Ukrainian strikes, with over 300 reported injuries.
The violence escalated further with another drone attack on Monday, which struck a crowded beach area near the Black Sea resort of Gelendzhik, resulting in the deaths of seven people, including three children. This attack also led to approximately 40 injuries, with 17 individuals requiring hospitalization. Governor of the Krasnodar Region, Veniamin Kondratyev, reported damage to civilian infrastructure as a result of this incident.
In recent weeks, Ukraine has intensified its long-range drone campaign, targeting various sites within Russian territory, including oil facilities and residential areas. This escalation comes amidst ongoing military challenges faced by Ukrainian forces on the battlefield.
Moscow has condemned these strikes, labeling them as terrorist attacks aimed at civilians. In response, Russia has increased its own long-range strikes targeting Ukraine's military-industrial and logistical infrastructure, asserting that its operations focus solely on military objectives.
