Leaving the Presidential Palace this afternoon for the residence of the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative in Cyprus, where tonight’s dinner will take place, Christodoulides told reporters: “The only thing I want to say is to express the wish and the hope that tonight’s discussion will be as good as this morning’s discussion with the Secretary-General of the UN.” Earlier in the day, Christodoulides held an expanded meeting with Guterres at the Presidential Palace, followed by a one-on-one meeting between the two men. Leaving the Palace, Guterres said he remained committed to supporting both Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots in finding a solution to the Cyprus problem. Government Spokesperson Konstantinos Letymbiotis said afterwards that the discussion had been substantial and sincere, and that the goal is to convene an informal expanded conference that would serve as the springboard for resuming negotiations. Guterres later met Erhürman in the occupied areas.
