Government spokesman Konstantinos Letymbiotis shared insights from the meeting via a post on X, emphasizing that Cyprus is actively "strengthening its strategic footprint in the Eastern Mediterranean." The discussions underscored the significance of trilateral cooperation involving Cyprus, Greece, and Israel, which has been a focal point in regional diplomacy.
A key topic during the meeting was the promotion of the Eastern Mediterranean Gateway Act, which aims to build upon the existing framework established by the Eastern Mediterranean Energy and Security Cooperation Act. In addition to the discussions with the AJC, President Christodoulides also met with Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, the UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and the Managing Director and Group CEO of ADNOC. This meeting centered on Cyprus’ energy plans and the UAE’s interest in increasing its involvement in the Cypriot energy sector. Letymbiotis noted that the discussions opened avenues for potential participation in significant energy projects that hold regional importance.
