**Title: Christodoulides Meets US Lawmakers to Discuss Strategic Ties and Regional Developments**
On Saturday, President Nikos Christodoulides of Cyprus engaged in discussions with a bipartisan delegation of US lawmakers at the presidential palace in Nicosia. This meeting aimed to strengthen the strategic relationship between Cyprus and the United States and to address various regional and international developments.
The delegation included notable US representatives Nathaniel Moran, Jim Costa, Brendan Boyle, and Craig Goldman, who were in Cyprus for the 91st Transatlantic Legislators’ Dialogue held on June 19 and 20. This dialogue serves as an interparliamentary forum that fosters collaboration between members of the European Parliament and the US Congress, typically convening twice a year in either the US or the European city currently holding the EU Council presidency.
According to a statement released by deputy government spokesman Yiannis Antoniou, the discussions emphasized the importance of enhancing the already upgraded bilateral relationship between the two nations. President Christodoulides highlighted Cyprus’ commitment to deepening transatlantic ties, which he identified as a key priority during the country’s presidency of the Council of the European Union.
The talks covered a range of topics, including Cyprus-US cooperation in energy, investment, defense, and security. Both sides reviewed the ongoing developments related to the Cyprus problem, the situation in the Middle East, and various other regional and international issues.
The visiting lawmakers acknowledged and praised the Republic of Cyprus for its role in promoting security and stability in the broader region. Following the meeting, President Christodoulides took to social media platform X, describing the discussions as a “great exchange” with the US Congress members. He underscored the significance of the strong and growing Cyprus-US strategic relationship and the enduring importance of the transatlantic partnership.
This meeting marks a continued effort by both nations to collaborate on key issues affecting not only Cyprus but also the wider region, reinforcing the strategic ties that have been developing over recent years.
