CIS economies manage to cope with West’s pressure — Secretary General Sergey Lebedev noted that the pressure applied by the West to CIS member-countries prompts to make efforts in order to proactively develop the economyMINSK, October 5. /TASS/. CIS economies are successfully developing their economies despite pressure from the West, Secretary General of the Commonwealth Sergey Lebedev told Belarus-1 television. "We have to resist together the pressure exerted on us [by the West]. We manage to do that. The trade turnover among [CIS] countries has increased significantly," Lebedev said. The pressure applied by the West to CIS member-countries prompts to make efforts in order to proactively develop the economy, he noted. "The development indicator of our economies in recent years exactly evidences that we remain standing. We take the lead. While, for example, GDP growth is 1-2% in the West, we have it up to 11%. That is why we look ahead calmly and confidently," Lebedev added.
