**Community Relations Fund Donates €54,000 to Cyprus SBA Communities**
The Cyprus Community Relations Fund (CCRF) has announced a significant donation of €54,000 aimed at enhancing the quality of life in the Sovereign Base Areas (SBAs) and surrounding communities in Cyprus. This funding will support a variety of projects, charitable organizations, schools, welfare and cultural associations, as well as sports clubs, benefiting over 28 communities across both the Eastern and Western SBAs.
The donation was highlighted during a recent meeting between Maria Kyriakidou-Pieri, the Area Officer for Dhekelia, and representatives from the Paralimni-Derynia Municipality. Kyriakidou-Pieri emphasized the SBA Administration's commitment to supporting local communities, stating, “As the SBA Administration, we remain committed to supporting our local communities.” She noted that while the annual CCRF funding for the Eastern SBAs may be modest, it reflects a sustained effort to contribute positively to the daily lives of residents.
The importance of this funding was further underscored by George Kiteos, the Area Officer for Akrotiri, during a presentation ceremony held at the Episkopi Officer’s Mess. Kiteos expressed his pleasure at the collaboration between the SBA Administration and local representatives, stating, “The officials’ presence was a great pleasure and reflected the close and excellent cooperation the two sides had established.” He reiterated the Administration's ongoing support for local initiatives and emphasized the role of the financial contribution in aiding organized groups and bodies in their mission to serve the community.
The CCRF's donations are part of a broader strategy to foster community development and enhance the welfare of residents in the SBAs, which are British military territories on the island of Cyprus. By funding local projects, the CCRF aims to strengthen the relationship between the British Bases and the surrounding communities, ensuring that residents benefit from various social, cultural, and recreational activities.
As the funds are allocated, the SBA Administration looks forward to continuing its partnership with local organizations, enhancing cooperation and friendship within the region. The commitment to community support reflects a dedication to improving the everyday lives of those living in the SBAs, reinforcing the importance of collaboration between the British Bases and the local populace.
This latest financial injection into community projects underscores the ongoing efforts to address the needs of residents and promote a sense of unity and cooperation in the region. The CCRF's initiatives are expected to have a lasting positive impact on the communities it serves, fostering development and enhancing the quality of life for many.
