The family of a missing crew member from the Cypriot-flagged container ship M/V GFS Galaxy has confirmed his death following a missile strike in the Strait of Hormuz over the weekend. Heramb Karmarkar, a 30-year-old marine engineer from India, was reported missing after the incident, which occurred on Sunday at approximately 1:40 AM Cyprus time.
Rishi Tandon, a relative of Karmarkar, informed the Indian news outlet Indian Express that authorities had confirmed the tragic news of Karmarkar's passing. Following the missile strike, the remaining 23 crew members successfully abandoned the ship and were rescued by the Omani navy, who transported them to safety.
