**Cypriot Consumers Drive Surge in Skroutz Summer Sales Orders**

Cyprus, September 2023 – Cypriot consumers have significantly increased their purchasing activity through the Greek online marketplace Skroutz during this year’s summer sales, with a remarkable 62 percent rise in orders compared to the same period last year. The latest data from Skroutz reveals that turnover also saw a substantial increase of 58 percent, reflecting a growing trend in online shopping among Cypriots.

The summer sales period, which ran from July 13 to August 31, showcased a stable average order value of €101, similar to the previous year. However, the average total amount spent by each consumer during this period rose by 4 percent, reaching €151. This indicates that while the number of orders surged, consumers were also willing to spend more overall.

Notably, the peak shopping days were recorded towards the end of the sales period, with Friday, August 28, and Monday, August 31, marking the highest purchasing activity. Geographically, Limassol emerged as the leading city for online orders, accounting for 35 percent of total purchases. Nicosia followed closely with 34 percent, while Larnaca, Paphos, and Famagusta contributed 17 percent, 9.5 percent, and 4 percent, respectively.

The data highlighted that Cypriot consumers showed a strong preference for specific product categories during the sales. The most significant expenditures were seen in technology, fashion, and health and beauty products. Within these categories, fashion dominated the sales, representing 25 percent of discounted purchases. Household appliances and technology followed, accounting for 20 percent and 16 percent of sales, respectively.

Remarkably, the Auto-Moto category experienced the most substantial growth in sales, with a staggering increase of 126 percent compared to last year. Books and household appliances also saw impressive gains, with increases of 115 percent and 102 percent, respectively. The average discount across all products stood at approximately 11 percent, with fashion items offering the highest average discount at 16 percent.

The summer sales period also showcased a shift in consumer preferences regarding delivery methods. There was a notable increase in the use of alternative collection options, with orders through Skroutz Hub rising by 158 percent. Additionally, 46 percent of all orders were delivered to Skroutz Points, reflecting a growing demand for faster and more flexible delivery solutions.

Payment methods during the sales period revealed a clear preference among consumers, with card payments dominating at 78 percent of transactions. The use of Revolut accounted for 21 percent of purchases, while cash on delivery remained minimal at just 1 percent.

The data further underscores the expanding reach of Cypriot businesses through Skroutz, as local merchants have successfully tapped into the Greek market. Greek consumers represented 73 percent of the orders fulfilled by Cypriot businesses, while the remaining 27 percent came from domestic customers in Cyprus. This trend indicates that Skroutz is not only serving local consumers but also providing Cypriot businesses with a valuable platform to access a broader market.

As the summer sales season concluded, the figures released by Skroutz reflect a dynamic shift in consumer behavior and market engagement among Cypriots. The increase in online shopping, coupled with the expanding presence of local businesses in Greece, suggests a promising future for e-commerce in the region.

With the ongoing evolution of consumer preferences and the growing reliance on digital platforms, the collaboration between Cypriot businesses and Skroutz is likely to continue fostering economic growth and enhancing the shopping experience for consumers in both Cyprus and Greece.
