**Cypriot Students Shine at European Robotics Competition in Prague**
Cyprus's young robotics enthusiasts made a significant mark at the European robotics competition, Robotic Day Prague 2026, held on June 6 and 7 in the Czech Republic. Organized by Charles University, the event attracted student teams from various European nations, all eager to showcase their skills in a series of challenging robotics tasks.
The Cypriot delegation, primarily from Epiteugma Robotics Lab, excelled in multiple categories, securing an impressive four distinctions. The team known as Island Boys clinched first place in the Roadside Assistance category, demonstrating exceptional technical and programming capabilities. Their peers, the Agent Road-Bot team, also from Epiteugma Robotics Lab, followed closely behind, earning second place in the same category.
In addition to their success in the Roadside Assistance category, the Cypriot teams displayed versatility and ingenuity in other challenges. The I Forgot Now team achieved first place in the Ketchup House category, while another team, Quantum Minds, secured second place in the ToyCleanup category. These accomplishments highlight the depth of talent and creativity among the participating students.
The Cypriot contingent also included teams from Pascal Private School, as well as private tutoring institutions such as Evrymatheia, Madlab, and Paideia. Their participation not only enriched the competition but also underscored the collaborative spirit within Cyprus’s educational landscape, fostering a robust environment for innovation and learning.
Stavros Charalambous, head of the Cypriot mission in the Czech Republic, expressed pride in the students' achievements. "Warm congratulations to all participants for their excellent performance in the competition, with special recognition to the Cypriot teams that stood out. This is a very important achievement for the children and the educational community of Cyprus. Well done to everyone," he stated.
The teams that represented Cyprus in Prague had previously qualified through Robotic Day Cyprus 2026, a local competition organized by the non-profit Achievement Foundation for Talented and Gifted Youth. Their success in the international arena reflects the growing strength of the student robotics community in Cyprus and emphasizes the importance of continued investment in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education.
