**Cyprus Chamber of Commerce Backs New Initiative for Children with Cancer**
The Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Keve) has taken a significant step towards supporting children battling cancer and leukaemia by signing a memorandum of cooperation with the Elpida Charitable Foundation. This partnership, formalized on Wednesday, aims to enhance health, social cohesion, and humanitarian support across Cyprus.
The agreement signifies a mutual commitment between Keve and the Elpida Foundation to promote initiatives that focus on improving human health and fostering social solidarity. According to the announcement, the collaboration is grounded in the principles of safeguarding the right to health, providing prevention, medical and psychosocial care, and ensuring a dignified standard of living for all individuals, free from discrimination.
Under this partnership, both organizations plan to develop joint initiatives that will cover a range of areas including public awareness, education, humanitarian assistance, medical and psychosocial care, and palliative support. A particular focus will be placed on children diagnosed with cancer and leukaemia, their families, survivors of serious illnesses, and other vulnerable groups within society.
Keve President Stavros Stavrou emphasized the importance of social contribution as a core aspect of the chamber's mission. “Through this partnership with the Elpida Foundation, we seek to make a meaningful contribution to strengthening initiatives that support children and their families,” he stated. Stavrou also highlighted the need to raise awareness within the business community about critical health and social issues.
In his remarks, Elpida Foundation President Loizos Loizou expressed optimism about the new collaboration.
