**Cyprus Pilot Programme Merges Robotics, AI, and Renewable Energy**
A new educational pilot programme in Cyprus is set to revolutionize the learning experience for students by integrating robotics, artificial intelligence (AI), satellite connectivity, and renewable energy. The initiative is a collaboration between Tototheo Global, a maritime services firm, The Heritage Private School, and the Cyprus University of Technology (CUT). The memorandum of understanding for this innovative project was signed recently, with the aim of enhancing educational opportunities in the region.
According to a statement released on Wednesday, the programme is designed to provide students with practical exposure to cutting-edge technologies and real-world applications. As industries increasingly rely on data-driven and technology-enabled processes, this initiative seeks to equip the next generation with essential skills in coding, data analysis, and applied science.
Central to the programme is the deployment of FarmBot robotic systems, which will allow students to engage in hands-on learning experiences. These systems will facilitate exploration in areas such as coding, automation, plant science, and data analysis through interactive experiments. The FarmBots will be powered by Starlink satellite connectivity, providing students with insights into modern communications infrastructure and connected technologies.
In addition to the robotics component, the programme will incorporate solar panels and battery storage systems, enabling the installations to function independently of traditional power sources. This approach not only highlights the importance of renewable energy but also supports the educational framework by allowing students to conduct structured plant-growth experiments using sensors and data logging tools. These tools will enable the application of AI and data analytics in scientific research, fostering a deeper understanding of these technologies.
Tototheo Global is sponsoring the Starlink Mini equipment and connectivity services, which will offer a portable satellite solution for educational activities across various locations, extending the reach of the programme beyond its fixed installations. The company has emphasized that the first deployment of the FarmBot was made possible through their initiative, marking a significant expansion of their involvement in Cyprus' educational and research landscape.
The Cyprus University of Technology will play a crucial role in providing academic mentorship and scientific guidance throughout the programme. Areas of focus will include plant health, remote sensing, and microbiology, ensuring that the pilot is grounded in measurable research and academic expertise.
The pilot phase will see two FarmBot installations, with one located at The Heritage Private School in Limassol and the other in Kambos village. This strategic placement aims to maximize the impact of the programme across different educational settings.
