**Deep-Tech Startups Bridge Research and Industry at Limassol Event**
Last month, the non-profit organization Cyprus Seeds successfully wrapped up its participation in the Doers Summit 2026, held in Limassol. This event underscored Cyprus Seeds' role as the island's sole scientific innovation catalyst, facilitating connections among deep-tech startups, scientific entrepreneurs, and leading international investors.
The summit attracted significant attendance, with capacity crowds at both of Cyprus Seeds' flagship events, showcasing the organization's ability to unite research with investment and commercial opportunities. The gathering brought together thousands of participants from the deep-tech community across Europe, the Eastern Mediterranean, and the Middle East.
Cyprus Seeds played a pivotal role throughout the summit, engaging in discussions about deep-tech innovation. The organization not only hosted its own events but also contributed expertise to various panel discussions within the broader summit agenda. By positioning itself as a convenor for scientific innovation, Cyprus Seeds aimed to bridge the gap between groundbreaking scientific discoveries and their market commercialization.
One of the key highlights of the summit was the inaugural Investors’ Hour, which took place on May 21 at the Big Dome at Kolla Factory. This exclusive session featured eight research-driven startups and a carefully curated group of 16 investors, venture capital funds, and corporate representatives from Cyprus, Europe, and the diaspora. The format was designed to be dynamic, with startups delivering concise three-minute presentations followed by two-minute Q&A sessions with the investors. This initiative aimed to connect regional talent with essential sources of private funding, including venture capital firms and business angels.
The following day, May 22, marked the fourth edition of Cyprus Seeds' annual Innovation Showcase, also known as Demo Day. This event drew a full audience and showcased startups and alumni companies from the fourth support cycle of Cyprus Seeds. Attendees were treated to motivational presentations, a seaside discussion, and three themed panel discussions that brought together investors, mentors, scientific entrepreneurs, and government officials. The high level of participation highlighted the extensive cross-sector support for the Cyprus Seeds model.
Over the past seven years, Cyprus Seeds has dedicated itself to fostering the commercialization of scientific research and promoting deep-tech innovation within Cyprus. The organization has successfully assisted over 24 academic and research teams in transforming intellectual property into commercially viable businesses with international prospects. Its efforts have led to the establishment of several successful spinoff companies and licensing agreements.
In addition to the startups emerging from the Cyprus Seeds network, the summit featured selected teams from various countries, including Greece, the United Kingdom, Egypt, and India. Notable participating ventures included Mammocheck Ltd, A.G. FREYIA LABS Ltd, Pitys.ai Ltd (operating in both Cyprus and the UK), Podisense Ltd, MEDTL Medical Tech., Axioniq, Cluster from Egypt, and Cluix from India.
The Doers Summit 2026 served as a vital platform for fostering collaboration between researchers and investors, emphasizing the importance of deep-tech innovation in driving economic growth and technological advancement.
