Police said officers on a motorised patrol in the Paphos district signalled for a driver to stop for a check around midnight, but the driver instead accelerated to escape. Officers followed the vehicle, which continued to be driven recklessly and dangerously. At one point, the driver lost control of the vehicle and entered the garden of a house, where it came to a stop. The 34-year-old was arrested for the flagrant offences of reckless and dangerous driving, failing to comply with a police signal, driving without a licence and driving without insurance. He was then given a breathalyser test, which returned a reading of 76 µg%, well above the legal limit of 22 µg%. Paphos Traffic Police is continuing its investigation.
