The circumstances of the crash, which happened shortly after midnight, remain under investigation, police said. Officers who arrived at the scene found the 38-year-old in a state of drunkenness, shouting and causing a disturbance, police said. When asked to produce his documents and the vehicle’s registration papers, he reacted by pushing an officer with his hands, leading to his arrest for offences committed in the act. A breath test found the man had a reading of 100 micrograms, more than four times the legal limit of 22 micrograms, police said. He was placed in custody for the purposes of police investigation. Police said he faces investigation for drink driving, causing a road collision, speeding, assaulting a police officer, drunkenness, causing a disturbance and public insult. Stroubi police station is investigating the case.
