**Energy Ministry Opens €1.7 Million Fund for Exporters Targeting Global Markets**
Cyprus is taking significant steps to enhance the global presence of its producers by launching a €1.7 million state fund aimed at supporting exporters. The initiative, announced by the Ministry of Energy, allows Cypriot businesses to apply for financial assistance to showcase their products at major international trade exhibitions scheduled for 2027. Applications for this funding opened on Monday and will remain open until September 18, 2026.
The funding program is part of a de minimis sponsorship scheme designed to assist businesses involved in the processing or trading of industrial and agricultural products, as well as companies providing related services. The primary goal of the fund is to facilitate local companies in entering new markets, connecting with international buyers, and ultimately increasing their export capacity through participation in exhibitions where Cyprus will operate a national pavilion.
The proposed exhibition calendar includes several prominent events that are critical for networking and business development. The first event is Fruit Logistica, set to take place in Berlin from February 3 to 5, 2027. This will be followed by ProWein in Dusseldorf from March 7 to 9, and then Gulfood in Dubai from March 15 to 19. The final exhibition on the schedule is Anuga, which will be held in Cologne from October 9 to 13.
These exhibitions are known for their scale and the opportunities they present. For instance, the previous edition of Fruit Logistica attracted around 2,600 exhibitors and 90,000 participants, while ProWein hosted 3,400 exhibitors and welcomed 31,000 trade visitors. Anuga's latest event was even larger, featuring over 8,000 companies and 145,000 trade visitors. Gulfood, which is expanding to two venues in Dubai for 2027, showcased more than 8,500 exhibitors from 195 countries during its 2026 event.
While the funding is designed to bolster participation, the Ministry of Energy has cautioned that the establishment of a state pavilion is contingent upon sufficient applications from eligible businesses and the approval of the necessary budget. If the number of applicants is too low, the pavilion may be cancelled, which would affect the ability of Cypriot companies to participate in these significant trade events.
Businesses interested in applying for the fund can access the application form and information guide through the trade service. It is crucial for applicants to adhere to the submission deadline, as applications received after September 18, 2026, will not be considered.
