**Fast-Moving Canada Wildfire Doubles in Size, Forcing Thousands to Evacuate**

In response to the advancing blaze, the entire population of Summerland, approximately 12,000 residents, has been ordered to evacuate. Additionally, around 8,000 residents from the neighboring community of Peachland are also affected by evacuation orders. Thompson, who had been providing updates from the emergency operations center, shared a personal account of the situation on social media. He revealed that he had to leave the center to evacuate his own family, stating, "I had to leave the EOC to come and get my family to leave this area. We're heading south."

The region is also home to many horses, and residents have faced challenges in evacuating their animals. Some individuals have left their gates open in hopes that their animals would find safety on their own, while others have taken the precaution of marking their animals to facilitate identification later.
