Russian shipping group Fesco has redirected its container shipments originating in Ankara from the Black Sea port of Novorossiysk to St. Petersburg, the group said. "FESCO Shipping Group (within the managed perimeter of Rosatom State Corporation) has redirected its intermodal container shipments going from Ankara from Novorossiysk to St. Petersburg," the company noted. The route includes scheduled rail shipments from the Turkish capital to the port of Gebze, followed by sea delivery to St. Petersburg by the group's maritime services. The first cargo batch of 40 TEUs (20 ft container equivalent - TASS) was dispatched from Ankara on September 19. Upon arrival in Gebze, the containers were loaded onto a Fesco vessel bound for St. Petersburg. The estimated transit time for the entire voyage is around 20 days. The intermodal route also operates in the reverse direction to transport Russian exports to central regions of Turkey, the operator noted. "We have adapted the logistics scheme for shipments from Ankara, keeping the rail leg to Gebze and changing the port of destination in Russia to ensure stable deliveries from central Turkey for our clients. Today, FESCO is the only container operator offering direct intermodal delivery from the Turkish capital to St. Petersburg," said German Maslov, the Deputy CEO of Fesco.
