**Festival to Fill Ancient Amathus with Music**
The Amathus Municipality is set to host the 29th edition of the Amathusia Festival on September 18, 2023, at the historic archaeological site of the Ancient Agora of Amathus. This annual event, which has become a significant cultural fixture in Cyprus, will feature a variety of performances by distinguished artists based in Cyprus, celebrating the intersection of music and history.
For nearly three decades, the Amathusia Festival has showcased an array of artistic expressions, including theatre, dance, poetry, and music. This year, the focus will primarily be on classical music, while also incorporating modern Greek and Cypriot instrumental works arranged for violin and piano. The concert will be organized by Limassol pianist Tatiana Stupak, who is known for her contributions to the local music scene. Further enriching the concert will be performances by Italian piano duettists Emilia Pinto and Massimiliano Chiapinelli, who will present works by the Argentine composer Astor Piazzolla. The festival will also pay homage to Greek musical heritage with pieces by celebrated composers Mikis Theodorakis and Manos Hadjidakis, along with a traditional Cypriot composition.
