According to a statement by the ‘police’, the fire started at around 8.30 am. Crews from the ‘fire service’ were sent to the scene, along with heavy machinery from a private company. The area has been secured, while efforts to extinguish the fire are continuing. The dump is located in the wider area between Koutsoventis and Kythrea. Smoke from the fire is visible from the government-controlled areas.
