The incident occurred at approximately 9:42 PM, when the Fire Service received an emergency call reporting the blaze. Firefighters from the Agios Ioannis “Sergeant Vasilis Krokos” Fire Station quickly mobilized, dispatching two fire engines to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the house fully ablaze. They worked diligently to bring the fire under control, managing to do so within 16 minutes, by 9:58 PM. Preliminary investigations by the Fire Service indicate that the fire may have been deliberately set, leading to suspicions of arson. The authorities are likely to conduct further inquiries to determine the cause and identify any potential suspects.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding abandoned properties in urban areas, which can pose safety risks not only to the structures themselves but also to nearby residents. As investigations continue, local authorities may need to address the issue of vacant buildings to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
