Thick smoke rises over the Aude department in southern France as firefighters battle a major wildfire threatening nearby homes. The fire has burned around 900 hectares, prompting a major emergency response. Around 690 firefighters have been deployed, supported by Dash aircraft, Canadair planes and Dragon helicopters. Elsewhere, footage from the Pyrénées-Orientales shows a campsite damaged by a separate wildfire, with burned vegetation and destroyed mobile homes. Evacuees arrive at a shelter in Canet-en-Roussillon after leaving the campsite with only a few belongings.
