The attack occurred around 8:40 PM when a 26-year-old delivery driver was confronted by an unknown assailant who refused to pay for an order and subsequently threw a stone at him.
According to police reports, the initial confrontation escalated quickly. After the driver informed his colleagues about the attack, they rushed to the scene. Meanwhile, a group of approximately ten men, some reportedly armed with metal objects, arrived and launched an assault on the delivery drivers. Witnesses described a chaotic scene where the attackers threw the drivers to the ground and vandalized their motorcycles.
The situation intensified when four members of the assailant group fled in a vehicle. They later encountered a 22-year-old delivery driver who had just finished a delivery. Three of the attackers exited the vehicle and assaulted the younger driver, robbing him of cash and his mobile phone before making their escape.
Emergency services were called to the scene, and all five injured delivery drivers were transported to Paphos General Hospital. Medical examinations revealed various injuries among the drivers. Four of them were treated and discharged, while one individual remained hospitalized for further treatment.
Paphos police have launched an investigation into the incident, focusing on multiple offenses including conspiracy to commit a felony, conspiracy to commit a misdemeanor, rioting, robbery, assault causing actual bodily harm, illegal possession and transportation of an offensive weapon, common assault, and malicious damage. Authorities are actively pursuing leads and gathering evidence as they work to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
