A fire broke out in a two-storey residence in Strovolos on Sunday due to a forgotten saucepan left unattended on the hob. According to police reports, the incident occurred on the ground floor of the home, resulting in significant damage to the kitchen area.
Andreas Kettis, a spokesman for the fire service, confirmed that the flames caused extensive destruction, with heat and smoke affecting the entire interior of the house. Emergency responders acted swiftly, dispatching two fire engines to the scene to extinguish the fire.
This incident was part of a busy 24-hour period for the fire service, which responded to a total of 32 calls. Among these, 16 were classified as fires, while two were identified as prank calls.
In the week leading up to this incident, the fire service had been particularly active, responding to a total of 235 calls. This included 93 urban fires, 25 rural fires, three traffic accidents, 23 rescue operations, and 67 other public assistance incidents, alongside 24 prank calls.
