**Formula One Champion Lando Norris Extends McLaren Contract Until 2030**
Lando Norris, the reigning Formula One world champion, has officially extended his contract with McLaren Racing, committing to the team until at least 2030. The announcement was made on Saturday, August 29, 2026, just days after Norris celebrated back-to-back victories, including a significant win at the Dutch Grand Prix on August 23.
Norris, who has been with McLaren since joining their junior program at the age of 17, made his Formula One debut in 2019. His recent success has marked a significant turnaround for the team, which had not secured a drivers' championship since Lewis Hamilton's victory in 2008. The 26-year-old driver expressed his enthusiasm for the new deal, stating, “McLaren is my home, and I’m very pleased to be signing a new contract to keep me with the team until at least 2030.” He emphasized his long-term goals, saying, “When I started this journey nine years ago, I was clear about the goals I wanted to achieve: to get McLaren back to the front and to win championships. We’ve achieved that goal, but we want more, we want to keep on winning, and we know as a team that we’re capable of achieving it.”
The new contract reportedly includes an option for a multi-year extension beyond 2030, reflecting McLaren's commitment to Norris as a key figure in their future plans. Currently, he is positioned fourth in the 2026 championship standings, trailing Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli by 83 points with 11 races remaining in the season.
Norris's teammate, Oscar Piastri, also recently extended his contract, which is believed to run until at least 2028. This duo is seen as a strong partnership for McLaren, with team principal Andrea Stella praising Norris's contributions: “Lando has been an integral part of McLaren’s journey and success over the last nine years, and we are delighted to continue our partnership with him. However, the team faced challenges at the start of the current season as they adapted to new regulations. In a gesture of appreciation for his achievements, McLaren plans to present Norris with one of the MCL39 cars he drove to secure his first F1 title last year.
