The operation was conducted in the Limassol area as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug-related activities.
The operation began when officers stopped a vehicle driven by a 20-year-old woman. During a search of the car, police discovered 98 grams of cannabis, 10 grams of cannabis resin, €825 in cash, a mobile phone, a metal grinder, and a set of precision scales. These items raised suspicions regarding the woman’s involvement in drug distribution.
Following the initial arrest, police continued their investigation and stopped another vehicle driven by a 23-year-old man, who had reportedly met with the 20-year-old earlier in the day. A search of his car resulted in the seizure of an additional €940 in cash. This led the authorities to further investigate the residences of both suspects.
At the homes of the 20-year-old and the 23-year-old, police encountered two additional suspects, a 32-year-old and a 38-year-old. During this search, officers recovered an air pistol, €1,000 in cash, 343 grams of cannabis, 204 grams of cannabis resin, and precision scales that showed traces of cannabis.
As a result of the operation, the 20-year-old woman, the 23-year-old man, and the 32-year-old were arrested on charges of possession of drugs with intent to supply. The 38-year-old was arrested in connection with the possession of the air pistol.
The police have not released the names of the individuals involved, as investigations are ongoing. The authorities are expected to continue their inquiries to determine the extent of the drug operation and whether additional arrests will be made.
This incident highlights the ongoing challenges law enforcement faces in addressing drug-related crimes in Cyprus. The police have reiterated their commitment to tackling drug trafficking and ensuring public safety.
