**Four Back in Court Over Kyrenia Murder**
Kyrenia, Cyprus – Four of the seven individuals arrested in connection with the murder of 40-year-old Nizam Allanazarov appeared in a Kyrenia court on Friday, facing serious charges that include premeditated murder and drug possession. The case has drawn significant attention as details surrounding the incident continue to emerge.
The first suspect, a 30-year-old man, has been charged with premeditated murder, illegal possession of a knife, and residing in the northern part of Cyprus without the necessary documentation. During the court proceedings, police sergeant Uzeyir Kursat Koser stated that the investigation is still in its early stages. He indicated that further witness statements are expected to be collected and that CCTV footage from nearby buildings will be reviewed to gather more evidence. Koser requested an extension of the suspect's remand in custody for an additional seven days, a request that was granted by Judge Mine Gunduz Serden.
Following the first suspect's hearing, three additional men, aged 37, 33, and 31, appeared in court together. A different police officer testified that the 37-year-old and the 31-year-old were in the same vehicle as Allanazarov prior to the fatal incident. During a search of the vehicle, authorities discovered five grams of illegal drugs. The officer also noted that the 33-year-old was found in possession of drugs at the time of his arrest. Furthermore, it was revealed that the 33-year-old had been living in the north without residence documents since April 2023. The two other men claimed that the drugs found in their possession had been given to them by Allanazarov.
In court, the 37-year-old suspect expressed confusion regarding his arrest, stating, “I do not remember the incident” and requested to know the reasons behind his detention. He also sought medical attention for injuries he sustained, prompting Judge Serden to order a medical examination for him. All three men’s remands were similarly extended for another seven days.
The other three individuals arrested in connection with the case did not appear in court and were released after police determined there was no evidence linking them to the incident.
Nizam Allanazarov was fatally injured during what police described as a "dispute" that occurred in the car park of an apartment block in western Kyrenia during the early hours of Thursday morning. Following the altercation, he was transported to Dr. Akcicek hospital but unfortunately succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation continues as authorities work to piece together the events leading to Allanazarov's death, and the court proceedings are expected to unfold in the coming days as more information becomes available.
