According to Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis, the fire is spreading northwest of the Ergates industrial area, burning dry grass, wild vegetation and reeds within a riverbed. Four crewed fire engines from Nicosia fire stations have responded so far. They are being reinforced by the Forestry Department, the Game and Fauna Service and Organised Volunteer Groups, along with two bulldozers and a water tanker sent by the District Administration. Kettis said two firefighting aircraft are currently operating, with two more already activated to provide additional support.
