**Free Coffee Offered for Reusable Cup Campaign**
Coffee enthusiasts in Cyprus are set to enjoy a complimentary cup of coffee on July 18 as part of the "Bring Your Own Cup Day" initiative. This campaign, organized by the City Friends Club (CFC), aims to promote the use of reusable cups and reduce single-use waste across the island.
The event will take place from 9 AM to 11 AM at 19 participating cafés located in Limassol, Paphos, Nicosia, and Larnaca. This initiative is part of the broader Coffee Friends Club program, which was launched in 2023. Under this program, cafés offer customers discounts of up to 15% when they bring their own reusable cups. However, during the two-hour campaign, customers will be able to receive their coffee free of charge.
In addition to the free coffee, attendees will have the opportunity to win various prizes. Organizers have hidden two City Friends Club mascot stickers in each participating café. Those who find these stickers will be rewarded with gifts, which include reusable cups, eco-friendly tote bags, desserts, and other items.
The City Friends Club has reported that their initiatives have already made a significant impact. In the first half of 2023, approximately 25,000 disposable coffee cups were prevented from entering landfills, thanks to the efforts of participating cafés and the community's engagement with the program.
The participating cafés for the event include a diverse selection across the four cities. In Limassol, coffee lovers can visit Ray Kitchen & Bar (Germasogeia and Mesa Geitonia locations), Nomad Bread & Coffee (Germasogeia, Gladstonos, and Theklas Lysioti locations), Stories, Il Parco, Astry, Black Coine, Bleu Coffee, The Cookhouse, The Republic, Parisian Flat, Dune Cafe, and Tartufo Gelato. In Paphos, the Ray Kitchen & Bar will also participate. Nicosia's sole participant is Green Colibri Specialty Coffee, while Larnaca will feature Paul’s Coffee Roasters and Zya Cafe.
The City Friends Club is not only focused on reducing waste but is also involved in various community-oriented activities. Since its inception in 2021, CFC has actively engaged in street cleaning efforts, organized community cleanups, and promoted eco-consciousness through educational initiatives. The organization has utilized six trucks and employed 15 professional cleaners to maintain cleanliness in key areas across Limassol. They have also coordinated regular monthly cleanups for volunteers and corporate groups in parks, beaches, and other public spaces. To date, CFC has mobilized over 3,000 volunteers, collectively collecting an impressive 465,640 kg of garbage since their operations began.
