**Gloria Gallery Celebrates the Artistic Legacy of Paris Sivakas**
Nicosia, Cyprus – Gloria Gallery is currently hosting a retrospective exhibition dedicated to the late Cypriot painter and iconographer, Paris Sivakas, who passed away in 2018. The exhibition, which runs until July 2, aims to honor Sivakas’ artistic contributions and preserve his memory eight years after his death.
The showcase features a diverse array of works that span different periods of Sivakas’ creative journey. Visitors have the unique opportunity to explore a selection that includes paintings, still life compositions, portraits, and mixed-media pieces, alongside significant examples of his Byzantine iconography. Born in Nicosia in 1959, Sivakas pursued his passion for painting at the prestigious Athens School of Fine Arts. There, he was mentored by notable figures such as Dimitris Mytaras, Yannis Moralis, Panagiotis Tetsis, and Nikos Kessanlis. His education and experiences profoundly shaped his artistic style, characterized by meticulous craftsmanship, a restrained color palette, and subtle tonal transitions. These elements contribute to a poetic atmosphere in his work, transforming everyday objects and human figures into reflections of memory, nostalgia, and contemplation.
Sivakas drew significant inspiration from ancient Greek art and the Byzantine tradition, particularly the Fayum portraits, which influenced his distinctive visual language. His contributions to the art world have been recognized, with his works included in both public and private collections, notably the State Gallery of Contemporary Cypriot Art.
