**Home for Cooperation Celebrates International Day of Peace with Engaging Activities**
Nicosia, Cyprus – The Home for Cooperation (H4C) in Nicosia is set to commemorate the International Day of Peace on Sunday, September 20, with a series of events designed to promote dialogue, understanding, and community engagement. This year's theme, “Invest in Peace – For Everyone, Everywhere, Every Day,” reflects a commitment to fostering peace and addressing issues of racism and discrimination.
The day's activities will commence at 4 PM with a roundtable discussion titled “Voices Against Racism.” This session will bring together various civil society groups to engage in meaningful dialogue about racism, discrimination, and collective action aimed at promoting peace across Cyprus.
Following the roundtable, participants can join an educational walk from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM, entitled “Streets to Peace: Peacebuilding and the Urban Space.” This walk will explore the urban landscape of Nicosia while highlighting the importance of peacebuilding in everyday environments.
For younger attendees, a hands-on session called “Painting Peace Together” will take place from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, providing children with an opportunity to express their visions of peace through art.
A significant highlight of the day will be the launch of the Imagine Peace Academy at 7:30 PM. This new initiative by the Association for Historical Dialogue and Research (AHDR) aims to enhance peace education by bringing together educators, children, young people, parents, and communities. The Academy builds on the previous Imagine project and is designed to facilitate ongoing learning, dialogue, and cooperation across the divides in Cyprus. The launch event will continue until 8:15 PM.
In addition to these discussions and activities, an NGO Fair will run concurrently from 5 PM to 11 PM, allowing various civil society organizations to showcase their work and engage with the public. This fair is an opportunity for attendees to learn about different initiatives aimed at promoting peace and cooperation in the community.
As the day transitions into the evening, participants can enjoy food from Pastadelic e più, beverages from The Home Cafe, and music from DJ Patsa, creating a vibrant social atmosphere to conclude the day’s events.
The Home for Cooperation, established in 2011 by AHDR, serves as an educational and cultural center located within the UN buffer zone near Ledra Palace. It is one of the few spaces in Nicosia that directly straddles the dividing line between communities, making it a significant venue for inter-communal dialogue and collaboration.
The events planned for the International Day of Peace aim not only to celebrate the importance of peace but also to encourage active participation from individuals and organizations across Cyprus. By facilitating discussions and shared activities, the Home for Cooperation hopes to foster a spirit of unity and understanding in a region marked by division.
