The Houthis from the Yemeni rebel movement Ansar Allah say they have struck a military camp of Saudi-backed forces in the Marib province. "Following a thorough monitoring of the [enemy] forces’ movements, a targeted strike with the use of numerous missiles and drones was delivered on troop deployment sites, depots, weapons, and equipment at the Sahn al-Jin camp," Houthi spokesman Yahya Saria said. The Saudi-based Al Arabiya television channel reported earlier, citing Yemeni military sources, that the Houthis had shelled dwelling quarters in Marib and delivered a missile strike on a camp for internally displaced persons, leaving several people wounded. Witnesses told the TV channel that they had seen missiles launched from the Houthi-controlled Yemeni capital city of Sana shortly before the attack. Meanwhile, the Aden al-Ghad news portal said, citing a military source that the Yemeni army’s air defense forces had shot down a drone launched by the rebels toward Marib. The Al-Mashhad al-Yemeni portal reported that early on Friday, the Houthis had struck the city with the use of ballistic missiles and drones. According to the government forces’ command, seventeen soldiers died and several others were wounded as a result of the attack on army positions in the Marib and Hadhramaut provinces. On August 6, the Houthis delivered a massive strike on military camps in the east of the country, killing, according to the Al Hadath television channel, at least 45 Yemeni soldiers. That same day, the Houthis attacked the city of Najran in Saudi Arabia, leaving 11 civilians injured.
